SHARING TDP


MY EXPERIENCE WITH M.E.N TEACHERS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

The Teacher Development Programme (TDP), is a course designed to: Develop trainees’ knowledge of concepts related to language, language use and the background to and practice of language teaching and learning. Raise awareness of strategies to better develop learners’ language skills. Raise awareness of strategic to better help learners develop accuracy and fluency. Develop trainees’ practical classroom skills and techniques. Enable trainees’ to produce lessons which are well planed, logically staged, carefully timed and which address learners’ linguistic and affective needs. Encourage trainees to systematically reflect on practice and implement strategies for continuing professional development (Teaching Journals). Provide trainees with an opportunity to develop English language competence.
I consider this course like a great opportunity for Colombian English teachers to become better. For this course, it’s necessary developing and completing a Portfolio Assignment; we were guided by a course tutor, in our case Daniel Baldrich professor; and assessed by an external moderator. In the end of course, candidates on offer the opportunity to sit the Cambridge TKT exam (Teaching Knowledge Test). .
During this course, I have been repeating what important I consider planning to become in a good English teacher and according with that, the teacher let us must define a Class Profile as something useful; and it is useful because: Let teacher knows his strengths and weakness learner’s, let teacher planes appropriated class activities to learners. Definitely Garner’s Theory helps us to work punctually, class profile is not an obligation, but it is a need to teachers.
In summary, TDP is a training to develop three modules: 
Module 1 Language system and background to language learning and teaching, 
Module 2 Lesson planning and use of resources and 
Module 3 Managing the teaching and learning process
